Ladies Christmas Dinner - December 12th
The history of The Door began with a group of people who just wanted more God.
In 1977, this group of families, filled with the Holy Spirit, purchased 40 acres of land then known as Frontier City and began Opened Door Ministries. Their vision was to minister to troubled youth and see people set free by the power of God.
Three years later, came the need for a church. Thus, Opened Door Fellowship hosted its inaugural church service in January 1980. One of the founding families were David and Sandra Weimer. David was soon installed as the new pastor. There were several buildings on the property were cleaned up and converted into a sanctuary and offices.
The Pikers served at The Opened Door from 1980 through 1982 in leadership positions. They both started their bible training in 1983 and graduated from Rhema Bible College in 1984. In 1985, Jerry and Shirlene Piker were asked by David Weimer to assume the pastorate position as he and his wife were heading into the Barbados mission field. Pastor Jerry held the Office of Pastor at The Door from 1985 until his passing in May 2018.
The current sanctuary was built in 1991. The Youth/Children addition was completed in 1998. The Door has always been a place where people from diverse backgrounds came to find God and accept Christ as their Savior.
